| Spec: Haisan Tube-ice ice is frozen on the inside of stainless steel tubes with direct application of the refrigerant to the outside surface, resulting in speed and economy. The ice is produced from potable water in the form of cylinders. It is clear and tasteless, as circulation of the water during the freezing period eliminates salts and other impurities.
Thawing and cutting wastes are eliminated. All meltage resulting from the thawing of ice from the tubes and small particles of ice from the cutting operation return as make-up to the system. The Haisan Tube-ice Machine consists of a shell and tube freezer, cutter, pumping tank, water pump and automatic control panel. All parts of the Tube-ice Machine coming in contact with water or ice are rust-resistant. The freezer tubes, tube sheet and water box are stainless steel. Diagrams on the facing page illustrate how the ice is formed and harvested during the freezing and thawing periods.
How does it work?
In the making the ice, the water is recirculated over the inner surface of the tubes. The refrigerant in the shell surrounds the tubes and causes ice to form in the tubes. Circulation of the water provides a washing action to produce clear cylinders of ice. This action is continuous until ice of the desired thickness is formed. The freezing period is determined by an automatic timing mechanism. At the start of the thawing period, hot gas from the condenser is introduced into the refrigerant in the freezer. This, together with a flow of hot gas through the thawing chamber, releases the ice, which descends to a motor-driven cutter plate, which may be adjusted to cut the ice cylinders to the length desired. After the ice is discharged, the thawing gas valve to the freezer closes and circulation of the cold water is resumed, Make-up water is admitted automatically to the water tank to replace that frozen in the tubes.
